Antique Gold and Moss Agate Brooch

Offered here is an object of true beauty, and an ideal marriage of nature and human craft. Mounted in a 14 karat yellow gold pin is an exceptional piece of natural moss agate, the stone looking from afar like a painterly woodland scene from the Hudson River School. The bezel in which the agate is mounted is rather finely detailed, featuring a narrow roped gold border and, a step underneath that, a prominent beaded border. Circa 1910, this jewel is not to be missed.
