Cartier Santos Galbee Quartz Steel Wristwatch circa 1985

A vintage, circa 1985, Cartier Santos Galbee quartz wristwatch with the highly desirable ivory dial and navy blue roman numerals. The timepiece features Cartier's signature roman numerals, a sweep seconds hand, and a date aperture at 6 o'clock. The watch is mounted on the signature Santos link bracelet which features matte finish links, each set with two decorative screw heads, a motif carried over from the bezel of the watch. As with many Cartier timepieces, this Santos features a faceted synthetic sapphire crown with crown guards. The dimensions of the watch are 29mmx41mm, and this Santos is reference 1564.

The Santos is widely regarded as the world's first wristwatch (though women had been wearing inaccurate discreet timepieces on their wrists well before the creation of the Santos by Cartier for famed aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont in 1904).
