Gold, White Gold, and Rose Gold X-motif Flat Link Bracelet

A 14 karat yellow, white, and rose gold “X” form link bracelet, each flat link in the shape of an X with a box closure featuring a figure eight safety. 

The “X” form has a history in human design as long as history itself has been recorded. Beginning with the ancient Greeks and Egyptians, the X-motif graced everything from chairs, to jewels, to works of art. The X-motif regained new prominence within the court of Napoleon, who patronized furniture designers working within his imperialist design vernacular. Napoleon and the designers working under his auspices heavily favored the “X” form, again applying it to all kinds of furniture, architecture, jewelry, and art. The vintage piece you see here, then, is but a noble continuation within that grand tradition.
